PROJECT DEVELOPMENT
Collective experience with project development and development services for over 96 projects in roles for Nexus PMG, Weyerhauser, Rentech, Res Kaidi, Stormfisher, and QCells across multiple industry types including, solar, biomass pellet manufacturing, biomass gasification, biomass power, anaerobic digestion, food products, and waste-to-value.
PROJECT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Pathway Energy utilizes a stage gated approach to development to ensure that the development proces is advanceing in alignment with company objectives. Development is the management of planning, organizing, coordinating, and controlling resources to execute an established process, procedure, or guidance, to successully deploy projects through the various stages of the development and execution. The development process takes a concept from idea origination through construction, and into a stabilized operation.
The Development stages are advanced along with the Front-End-Loading (FEL) engineering stages to ensure that all of the project’s commercial and technical aspects are aligned throughout the development phase to the Final Investment Decision (FID). The following four FEL development stages have been defined to highlight the purpose of each FEL stage.
- FEL 0 – Origination / Master Planning
- FEL 1 – Identify / Assess (Determine the concept’s economic viability & identify major risks)
- FEL 2 – Select / Scope (Define Major Equipment Selection / Technology Packages)
- FEL 3 – FEED (Finalize Project Scope Basis and Define Project Execution Plan)
SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTISE
Collective subject matter expertise demonstrated through advisory and management consulting services in over 36 engagements for Nexus PMG, Dexus Development Capital, provate equity and infrastructure funds of different scopes including, due diligence, independent engineering, technical readiness assessments, operational monitoring, construction monitoring, claims management, and EPC evaluations.
A DIFFERENTIATING PERSPECTIVE
The subject matter expertise and consulting experience from the team is a differentiator within the development space where we aim to derisk all of the protential key risk areas of a project as we advance through the stage-gated development process. From site origination to operational readiness, we approach projects from a unique perspective where we can leverage career experience to focus our efforts on the appropriate commercial, technical, and project specific aspects to provide bankability to meet the stringent requirements of underwriting the complexities of large infrastructure projects.
PROJECT EXECUTION
Collective experience in project execution within the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) phases on over 60 projects of various industrial sectors from contract negotiation through start up and commissioning. We bring an informed perspective to project execution from our real-world field experience managing construction and navigating complex infrastructure projects.
LESSONS LEARNED
Pathway Energy’s leadership team is comprised of a team with real-world boots-on-the-ground experience on construction sites of large industrial process facilities from oil & gas refineries, mining, power generation, nuclear, to non-traditional renewables like waste-to-value, anaerobic digestion, gasification, and Fischer-Tropsch syngas conversion. The team has hands on construction experience working through the grind of schedule slips and project cost overruns when projects get challenged.
STARTUP / OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE
Collective experience in startup and operations & maintenance of over 45 facilities. The executive management team has held key roles in the turnaround of 5 distressed assets, implementing a structured operations excellence framework. The team is well-versed in Operations & Maintenance having successfully turned around multiple underperforming assets.
OPERATIONAL READINESS
The key to successful operations of industrial processes starts with individuals in the organization. Through the implementation of the Operational Excellence Framework that we have successfully executed to turnaround distressed assets, we understand the importance of organizational structure and operating tools to support a facility’s day to day maintenance and reliability practices to increase resource efficiency and improve the bottom-line profitability of the process.
